Chants (Particles)

1.
Chant your shopping list

5.
Chant the track titles to your Springsteen records7

1 The power of many voices. Not (just) ritual, not (just) football, not (just) protest.

2 I had forgotten about Gaggle. The internet reveals the album version of this song, but I remember, somewhere, an earlier version that was stripped, raw, powerful. The power of many voices.

3 From A Year Without Regret by The Middle Ones – one of the greatest songs you might not have heard. On the Slow and Steady album on Stitch-Stitch Records. Live, Anna and Grace were kind enough to let me do a whistling solo at the end. Steve laughed at me.

4 Hmmm. Not sure what I think of the Cribs. I like the albums I have (early ones), even the one where Lee Ranaldo says ‘blowjob’ a lot. This chant is a bit football-y for me, but it ‘works in the song’ as no one ever really says.

5 Not really a chant, but lovely unison shouting. Holiday tune. Look it up yrself.

6 I follow four people called Luke.

7 I don’t have any but (shhh) I might get the re-mastered Born To Run.
